I think she is right. When I look over her shoulder at these network spaces she has I feel faint. She "knows" so many people and talks to them all at once. She wonders how I managed, when I was young, to stay in touch with people. "What did you do before texting Mum?"
I reply that I was a regular teenager and ran up enormous bills on my parents phone.
Lilith. The trouble is they have all gone 'global' now. When I was a sprog all my friends lived within 15 minutes walk - we didn't need all these technical facilities to keep in touch. I knew a girl who had a pen-friend in Hong Kong and I thought that was terribly sophisticated.
